This study examined the effect of tenure security and other socio-demographic factors on the productivity of tomato farmers in Uyo Agricultural Zone of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. Primary data was collected from 120 tomato farmers who were purposively selected using a multi-stage sampling procedure and administered with structured questionnaire. Descriptive statistics and multiple regression analysis were used as tools for data analysis. Findings revealed that tomato production was dominated by women (79.1%) who were mostly married (78.36%). The mean age, educational attainment, farming experience, household size, and income were 45 years, 13 years, 13 years, 6 persons and N31,500.00, respectively. Result of the multiple regression analysis further shows that productivity of tomato production was significantly influenced by farming experience, farm size, credit access and tenure security status of farmers. The study concludes that tenure security and other demographic factors of tomato farmers significantly influenced tomato productivity in the study area. Hence, policies aimed at strengthening land tenure systems, improving access to agricultural land, and promoting sustainable land-use practices among tomato farmers should be pursued.
